  13. PRINTIFF is a utility to print TIFF files on laser printers.
  14.  
  15. Its objective is to reproduce black and white images on laser printers with
  16. the best quality possible.  The user has considerable flexibility in
  17. choosing brightness, contrast, size and position of the final image.
  18.  
  19. Even so, it must be recognized that due to limitations of the hardware,
  20. laser printers can not reproduce photographs with the same quality that
  21. newspapers do.  By carefully adjusting image brightness, contrast, size and
  22. resolution, very acceptable output can be produced.

  24. Integrating pictures with text is possible even if your present word
  25. processor or desk-top publishing software is not cabable of doing so.  You
  26. can now incorporate photographs with your existing text just by refeeding
  27. the page in the laser printer.  By carefully determining the desired
  28. position of the image on the page, PRINTIFF can place the image where it is
  29. required.  Even multiple images can be composed on a single sheet of paper
  30. without having to refeed the page each time.

  33. It has a number of features that gives the user flexibility over the
  34. outcome of the image.  Brightness, contrast, size and position of the image
  35. on the paper are fully adjustable.  The number of half-tones and the
  36. effective resolution can be set as well.

  38. In the pre-view mode, brightness, contrast, number of half-tones or gray-
  39. shades, and the printer's resolution is adjusted as desired.  The screen
  40. shows the image approximately as it would appear on the printer.  Its size
  41. is automatically calculated and displayed.

  43. Next, a representation of the page is shown allowing the user to position,
  44. and further scale the image.  Its location is shown relative to previous
  45. images so that multiple images can be printed on the same sheet of paper.

  51.       This program it is not a universal translator which can convert one
  52. type of graphics file to another.  For this job, use one of the other
  53. available programs.
